A MEMBER of the British Army Reserves from Kidderminster aims to keep landing heavyweight blows after winning a national title.
Shanice James has been drafted into British Army Boxing’s silver squad after winning the Novice B ABA English Nationals in the 60kg category last year.
The 23-year-old has now set her sights on more national success later in the year.
She’s also training with British Army Boxing’s elite squad.
The former Baxter College pupil had reached the final by knocking out Zaneta Sierpinska from London Community Boxing 40 seconds into the first round last October.
James, representing British Army Boxing, then took on Bishop Auckland’s Hannah Robinson at the York Hall venue in London.
Despite being up against an awkward opponent, who kept clinching the Wyre Forest fighter, James won the fight on a split decision.
That success saw her promoted to the silver training group.
James trains at the British Army Boxing gym in Aldershot.
