YOUNG Kidderminster snooker player Taylor Fish reached the quarter-finals at the European under-17 event in Malta at the start of January.
Fish, who is just 14 and plays for Pockets Snooker Club, performed with great credit in Malta, going out to Norwich’s Reggie Edwards in the quarter-final.
He won his way through his qualifying group making the competition’s highest break of 92, along with three other 50-plus breaks.
After winning the opening frame against Edwards, he saw his opponent play exceptionally well to go 3-1 ahead. However, Fish came fighting back to draw level at 3-3 before losing the deciding frame.
The experience he gained playing against the best young players in Europe should be invaluable.
The event was won by Portsmouth’s Mark Lloyd. He defeated Halim Hussain (Warwick) 4-0 in the one semi-final, while Hamim Hussain, Halim’s older brother, beat Reggie Edwards 4-3 in the other semi-final before losing 5-2 to Lloyd in the final.
