THE Kidderminster Snooker League’s Allan and John Cup final saw each of the three groups’ top spot being keenly contested.

In Group A the first match was between Pockets C of Division One and Workmans A of the Premier League.

Pockets got off to the best of starts winning the first two frames.

They consolidated the victory by taking the third singles frame which Reg Burton won by only two points.

Workmans then staged a comeback, winning the final singles frame and the doubles frame to end the match losing 3-2.

Premier League side Franche showed their pedigree to defeat Division One outfit team Pockets D.

The final match in this group was between Wribbenhall and Workmans B This proved to be a good performance from the Workmans team, who after losing the first frame by only two points went on to win the next four frames and take the match 4-1.

This meant Franche topped the group on 24 points, followed by Workmans B in second place on 18 points with Workmans A in third place on a creditable 17 points.

In Group B, Pockets B topped the table with a 5-0 win over British Legion.

The winners proved far too powerful and Tony Kidd took the first frame scoring 61. Richard Pepperall took the second frame with an excellent 61 clearance, which included five reds and colours, to score 103 points.

Tom Pepperall took the third frame and then combined with Richard Pepperall to win the doubles, while Gareth Ward finished off the night taking the final singles frame.

Chester Road had to settle for second place despite winning their match 4-1.

Neil Chapman bagged an important win for Chester.

In the last match of the group, St Johns saw off Cookley 3-1.

The winners of Group C is yet to be decided due to a postponed match between Pockets E and St Georges.

The F side have finished on 18 points each and Pockets E are currently on 16 points but with the rearranged game still to play.

The E side lost 3-2 to Pockets F, with Macauley Gunn and John Costello too strong in the doubles.

There was a 3-2 success for Pockets S over St Georges, while Pockets A edged out St Johns E.
