SEVERAL Wyre Forest CRC riders started their summer season with a ride in the Bridgnorth CC promoted hilly 21 miles time trial.

Fastest rider for the club was Steve Vanes finishing in second place with a time of 51 minutes and 59 seconds.

He was followed home by Stuart Walker in 10th place with a time of 56-04, Ian Connolly 28th with 1-01-06 and Bill Haslam 30th in 1-03-49.

Although this race was run in breezy conditions they were mild compared with the torrential rain and gale force winds faced by riders in the VC Sevale promoted 10 miles time trial on the Severn Stoke course.

Only 37 riders of the original 63 entered completed the course with Andy Convery of WFCRC placing 16th with a time of 24-45 and Gary Jones finishing in 26-30 for 26th place.

Riders will be hoping for a change in the weather for the start of the club’s midweek time trial championship which begins next week.
