CYCLING: Veteran and junior riders from Wyre Forest CRC took to circuit racing last weekend with mixed results.

Ken Bradbury contested a combined D and E category veterans race in wet conditions at Solihull and eventually finishing seventh overall, but fourth in his age category.

At the Curborough circuit in Lichfield the junior riders rode well on a wet and slippery track in the latest round of the youth regional races.

Jamie Crump finished sixth in the under-16s boys race while Erin Boddice placed third in the equivalent girls race.

Aimee Lane continued her strong start to the season with second place in the under-14s girls race, but Sam Cooper was caught up in a crash in the boys race and slipped back to 26th place.

Louis Smith finished eighth in the under-12s boys race, but Charlie Boddice was another rider involved in a crash and eventually finished in 11th position.

The next round in this series will be at Stourport Sports Club on Saturday with the first race starting at 11am.

The junior riders now enjoying a racing experience are the product of British Cycling’s Go Ride coaching scheme which has been organised at Stourport Sports Club by long time Wyre Forest CRC member Richard Pedersen.

Pedersen has been recognised for his commitment to coaching by being awarded the Midland Go Ride coach of the year for 2015.
