KIDDERMINSTER'S woes continued in Birmingham League Premier as they slipped to an eight wicket defeat to Knowle and Dorridge.

The good feelings generated by last week's first win of the season against Kenilworth were quickly forgotten as an understrength team were out to the sword.

While captain Matt Pardoe was in the team, Nathan Round was against absent.

They lost the toss and were asked to bat and suffered a setback early on when Pardoe, having scored four, was caught by Ben Griffin bowled Will Motteram.

Fellow opener Andy Kimberlin buckled down and kept his team from a bigger defeat.

The score went from 18-1 up to 45 when Jonathan Wright (11), was out lbw to Jack Grundy.

This was the start of a great performance by Grundy, whose second wicket came when Neil Pinner, after two well struck fours was out to a good catch by Jonathan Webb at backward point.

A fourth wicket fell to K&D's inform bowler when he removed Mike Hill who had scored nine as Kidderminster slipped to 70-4 after 18 overs.

Richard Kimberlin looked in good form, but having scored 15 with three fours, he became Grundy’s next victim when he was bowled.

Batting at number seven, Connor Smith scored 13, but having struck a four and a six, he was caught by Tom Smith off Ben Brookes bowling.

It was looking unlikely that Kidderminster would set K&D a challenge, and when Liam Weston (6) was caught Griffin bowled Grundy and Charlie Stainforth (5) gave Grundy another wicket, while Mikey Mitchell was bowled by Henry Brookes for five.

This left two men at the wicket, Tom Kimberlin who didn’t open his account, and his cousin Andy who was there from the first ball.

Andy had batted for 142 minutes, faced 89 balls and struck five 4s and a six. He has made higher scores, but his determination and patience was of the highest order.

He was finally out caught Beau Webster bowled Grundy for 56 K & D required 32 overs to win the match and but Kidderminster made an early breakthrough when opener Dominic Harding was caught by Pinner bowled Smith off the second ball of the innings.

However, Alex Phillips (35), Beau Webster (52) and Jonathan Webb (58) made light of the Kidderminster bowling, hitting twenty-one fours and a six between them.

Kidderminster entertain Bant Green next Saturday (noon start).
