STOURPORT Boat Club were celebrating after it won silver at the British Rowing Masters Championships.
The two-day event saw more than 1,500 competitors take to the water at the National Water Sport’s Centre, Nottingham, racing side by side over six lanes.
Racing over 1,000 metres meant there was fast and close racing, with the photo-finish camera playing a vital role in ensuring medals were awarded to the right crews.
Stourport’s Kevin Stack and Richard Collins proved they can compete at the highest level in the Masters B 2- event, reaching the final and narrowly losing out to a combined Derby/Walton crew by less than five seconds to take a superb silver medal.
Pete Lashford, Stourport’s president, said: “This is a fantastic achievement.
“They have trained hard and their dedication has paid off with a medal.”
