KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are hoping for a bumper crowd for Saturday’s high-profile pre-season friendly against Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion (3pm ko).

Aggborough is first the British venue for the Baggies, who are the West Midlands’ only representatives in the top flight of English football, and the hosts are braced for a big turnout.

West Bromwich, who were set to play Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain last night, have already sold 1,300 tickets for the clash with Harriers hopeful of that number increasing further.

That number could be matched by Kidderminster supporters keen to see how the new-look squad is progressing under the guidance of manager John Eustace and head of coaching Matt Gardiner.

But level-headed Eustace is not getting carried away by visit of Tony Pulis’s high-profile Black Country outfit.

Harriers had kicked-off their pre-season friendly fixtures with a 1-1 draw at Stratford, which saw Andre Brown’s penalty opening the scoring.

He said: “It’s going to be great to have West Brom come to play us but for me it’s just about getting fitness and being ready for the first day of the [league] season.

“They are going to be very tough and will have a lot of Albion fans backing them but we’re looking forward to the game.

“It’s not about the result at this stage although I want to see a good performance.”

Harriers then go to Stourbridge on Monday in the semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup (7.45pm kick-off) and on Tuesday tackle Burton Albion at home (7.30pm kick-off).

Eustace confirmed that the club has six or seven players on trial at the club, including former Walsall youngster Jordan Murphy.

Murphy had a brief loan spell at Harriers last season and memorably scored in Kidderminster’s first win of the season against Woking before being recalled by the Saddlers.

Eustace added: “The lads on trial are working hard and there’s no cut-off period, so we’ll see what happens.

“I am happy with the group of players we have, if some body we think can improve the squad comes along we’ll make a move, but I am not bringing in people for the sake of it.”

Meanwhile, Harriers have moved their Easter Saturday fixture at home to Boston to Good Friday on April 14, 2017.
