A FULL-STRENGTH Kidderminster side won in fine style as they saw off bottom-of-the-table Leamington by 120 runs in the Birmingham League Premier Division.

The Chester Road side welcomed back captain Matt Pardoe and Nathan Round, who have missed much of the season because of work commitments.

Some good batting by skipper Pardoe, Jon Wright and Neil Pinner plus some steady bowling, gave them their second 24-point win of the season.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field and a steady start saw KCC reach 37 by the ninth over before losing their first wicket when Round (11) was bowled by Tom Warner.

Wright joined Pardoe and the run-rate shot up, with 67 coming in the next ten overs.

With the century partnership approaching, Pardoe was out, caught by David Hawkes bowled by Neil Smith. He had scored 55 which included nine fours and a six.

The scoreboard read 130-2, but next man in, Pinner, kept the momentum going and together with Wright, took the score up to 168-3 inside six overs.

Wright, having reached 72, striking 12 fours and one six, was caught by Max Webber off the bolwing of Jon Wigley.

Michael Hill was next man in, but was bowled by Smith for 14.

Craig Wood came in at number six and scored 15 before becoming Wigley’s second scalp with a catch by skipper Lee Hopkins. Connor Smith (16) fared no better and was out leg before, giving Smith his third wicket.

Pinner had been in terrific form, but having reached 87, he was bowled by Matthew Davison.

He had faced 82 balls, hitting ten fours and one six as the score stood at 302-7 and only increased by 13 runs, with Tom Kimberlin bowled by Davison for a duck.

The not out batsmen were Chris Russell (1) and Liam Weston (16).

The pick of the bowlers was Neil Smith with 3-101. Davison and Wigley took two each.

Leamington’s reply never troubled Kidderminster with only keeper Nathaniel Hooker (59) showing any real resistance, with Pardoe (4-41) and Chris Russell and Gareth Williams taking two each.

Kidderminster’s next match is a trip to Worcestershire rivals Ombersley on Saturday (noon start).
