LASER Radial star Alison Young wants to produce a strong second half of her Rio 2016 regatta after enduring another frustrating day on Guanabara Bay on Tuesday.
Young, 29, finished 13th and 26th in the Radial’s two races today – races three and four of their event – to sit in 18th place overall.
With the Radial class scheduled to sail a 10-race opening series, plus the final double points medal race for the top 10 boats, the fleet were set to pass the midway point of their event last night, before a rest day on Thursday.
Despite her disappointment, the Bewdley sailor will not be giving up.
She said: “I have six races to go so I just have to look at what lessons I can take from today into the rest of the week.
“It wasn’t a very good day on the water. Decisions I’m making aren’t turning out to be particularly good at the moment.”
After Tuesday night's rounds, the Laser Radial leaderboard is headed by defending London 2012 champion, Lijia Xu (CHN), with Annalise Murphy (IRL), who was fourth at the last Olympics, sitting in second and 2015 World Champion, Anne-Marie Rindom (DEN) in third.
