KIDDERMINSTER saw their excellent run of wins come to an end when they were held to a a commendable losing draw by Birmingham Premier League leaders Berkswell on Saturday.

Berkswell scored more runs than anyone else against KCC this season, but a good fight-back gave the Chester Road side a well-deserved draw.

KCC won the toss and invited the home team to bat and their top order batsmen Darren Maddy (45), Mark Best (87), Chris Whittock (30), Oliver Haley (43) and Tom Lewis (89) scored runs.

By and large the KCC bowlers did their best with skipper Matt Pardoe taking 2-46 and Neil Pinner 2-71.

Kidderminster opened with Matt Pardoe and Nathan Round, and chasing six runs per over, they started well with 97 runs coming by the 20th over.

The partnership was broken when Pardoe (50) was caught by Grant Thornton off the bowling of Nick James.

Round (59) went soon after when he was caught by Oliver Haley and Kidderminster slipped to 152-3 when Jon Wright fell victim to Maddy.

Neil Pinner (13) and Michael Hill (6) went cheaply but Craig Wood, batting at number six, livened proceedings with some well-struck shots.

He raced to 39 runs from 42 balls before he was stumped by Liam Gately.

At 219-6, it was backs to the wall but Richard Kimberlin and Liam Weston doggedly held on and guided Kidderminster to 223-6.

Kimberlin (14) batted for 42 minutes facing 36 balls, and Weston hit one four from 14 balls in13 minutes.

On Saturday KCC are at home to Kenilworth (noon start).
