TRIMPLEY Sailing Club is encouraging Wyre Forest families to follow in the footsteps of world champion Alison Young by attending an open day on Monday.

The club, which is based near Bewdley, is offering free sailing when it opens its doors from 2pm.

Young, who is currently competing at the Rio Olympics in the Laser Radial, started her path to success at Trimpley.

Trimpley commodore Jonathan Websdell said: “We’re all so proud of what Ali continues to achieve flying the Trimpley flag on the biggest international stages, and she is a real inspiration.”

Anyone interested in attending must wear comfortable clothes, old trainers and bring a waterproof top and sunscreen.
