WYRE Forest CRC riders are demonstrating excellent form as the season enters the final months by setting personal best times in recent races.

In the www.Realteam.co.uk 25-mile time trial on the fast R25/3H course in South Wales, Steve Vanes took over two minutes off his previous best performance finishing 11th from an entry of 120 riders in the main event in 51 minutes and one second.

Th race winner was Marcin Bialoblocki, of professional team OnePro Cycling, in 45:29 — the second fastest UK time for this distance.

In the same event Gary Jones, riding in the overflow race, finished 28th from an entry of 135 riders beating his previous best performance by over a minute with a time of 57:00.

In the women’s RTTC National Championship 10-mile time trial, Denise Burrows finished 51st from a field of 91 riders on a demanding course in a season’s best time of 25:42.

The race was won by multi-title holder Hayley Simmonds, of AeroCoach, with a time of 21:28.

In his first ride on the fast V718 course, Jon Howard produced his fastest ever 10-mile time trial to finish 33rd from a select field of 132 riders with a time of 19:26.

The final race in the midweek TT championship was a one kilometre sprint around the SSC cycle circuit held in torrential rain, with the circuit looking like a river.

David Briggs picked up valuable points with a close win from some hard charging youths, while nine-year-old Felix Forrester narrowly missed breaking the two-minute barrier.
