KIDDERMINSTER CC’s under 19s enjoyed a fine victory over Brockhampton in the T20 Blast regional final on Sunday.

Having beaten a strong Pershore side in the semi-final, a mixed aged team was pitted against the Herefordshire side at Chester Road.

Losing the toss, the home side batted first, but lost three early wickets to Brockhampton’s main strike bowler.

Opener Sam Beadsworth and George Hatfield steadied the innings with a partnership of 36. Hatfield fell for 15 but Beadsworth continued to anchor the innings, scoring an unbeaten 52.

He was ably supported by Rob Cross (12) as Kidderminster posted 129 scoring 40 in the last four overs to finish with a flourish.

Brockhampton made a good start to their innings, keeping wickets in hand but quickly fell behind the run rate. The game was in the balance with the visitors 80-1 off 15 overs, requiring a further 50 off five to win the game.

However, excellent bowling from James Kinder (4-18) and Lewis Stainforth (2-32) left Brockhampton needing 15 off the last over with just three wickets in hand.

Two run-outs and a wicket for Ryan Wheldon saw Brockhampton bowled out for 116 as Kidderminster celebrated a deserved victory in their debut in the ECB NatWest T20.
