BEWDLEY Town booked their place in the next stage of the FA Vase after pulling off a pleasing 2-1 win at Midland League side Pershore Town.

But Bewdley had to come from a goal down to seal success after Lewis Clarke fired Pershore in front.

Lewis Pountney levelled matters after turning home a Chris Seekings free kick before Callum Martin headed home Bewdley's winner.

Spokesman Steve Godfrey said: "In truth, we should have won by a wider margin, because after their opening goal, our keeper Darren Steadman didn't have a great deal to do.

"That said, Pershore hit the post with five minutes remaining and Darren admitted afterwards to having held his breath, as he was well beaten at the time."

Bewdley have now booked a tough tie in the next round with runaway West Midland League leaders Wolves Sporting Community  who have won all nine of their games so far this season.

They meet at Ribbesford Meadow on September 24 when the tie is expected to attract a bumper crowd.

Bewdley entertain high flying Hereford side Wellington this Saturday.
The reserves lost out 5-2 against a strong Sikh Hunters side in West Midlands Division Two where Matt Kirby and Russ Godfrey were on target.

They travel to Tipton Youth this Saturday.
