STUART Humphries and Tom Pain racked up seven net birdies en route to victory in Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club’s Captain’s Classic.

The dynamic duo finished on 11-under with a strong score of 47 to lift the crown and winner Pain was quick to hail his right-hand man.

“Playing with Stu is always great fun,” said Pain. “Birdies were flying in from everywhere but it was his 25-foot putt on the ninth that kept our momentum going.

“From there, we couldn’t really put a foot wrong. The clubhouse was busy when we got in which was great with everyone supporting another fantastic competition.”

It proved to be a day of impressive scores and the result was particularly harsh on Dean Rogers and Graham Fletcher, whose 44 would normally have won the day.
