It was Cookley who were the first team to head the division when they beat Pockets A 4-1 with captain Simon Galiatly and Matt Buckley leading the way with two points each.
Two of the promoted teams started the season with wins - Pockets D beat a strong Pockets S by 3-2 despite Charlie Newey collecting two wins and a fine 69 break in the doubles - a fine effort from the captain of Pockets S.
Chester Road returned to the premier with a very tight 3-2 win against fellow promoted St John's E mainly thanks to Glyn Rees picking up two wins.
The other team to collect a 3-2 win was the very strong Pockets B who beat St John's D with a black ball decider in the final doubles match, with Tony Kidd and Gareth Ward leading the way with two wins apiece.
Champions Pockets E sat out the first week of the season with a bye.

St John's C again started the season with a bang by beating Pockets C 4-1 with Aidy Palmer picking up two wins and a 29 break.
League newcomers The Three Lions, started with a 3-2 win against Legion. Relegated Workman's A also started the new campaign with a 3-2 win against St Georges and Workman's B won the deciding doubles game against Wribbenhall to take a 3-2 win , with captain Rob Southall leading the way with two wins including a black ball singles win.
