PUPILS from Lacon Childe School in Cleobury Mortimer took part at the Inter-Schools Show Jumping Event.

Lacon Childe kicked off the season in style with some outstanding performances from seasoned riders and others who joined the school this year.

The first event was hosted by Lucton School on Saturday, September 24.

In the 70m class, they performed well and were pleased with a team fifth place for Tilly Evans, Ellie Jones, Annie Kinsey and Jessica Norris.

The 80cm class saw members of the squad achieve a team second for Emma Johnson, Holly Bailey and Megan Caine with Holly winning the class as an individual and Megan joining her with an individual sixth.

By this time Lacon Childe were on a roll and the 90cm class saw some of our more experienced riders perform to their best with the team of Georgina Crawford, Hettie Wood and Emma Johnson winning the class. Hettie achieved a magnificent first in the class and Tash Lockett gained the individual fifth place.

Not wanting to finish there, Georgina, Hettie and Tash then rounded off a tremendous day by winning the 1m class with Hettie being placed a superb second in the individual competition.

The teams are hoping to follow the successes of this event with more wins in October when they will be riding at an event at Kings Equestrian, Bromyard, to honour Debbie Liddell, the team trainer who sadly passed away over a year ago.

The inter-schools competition is run by the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) at local, county, regional and national level for disciplines including show jumping, dressage, arena eventing, one-day events, hunter trials.
