STOURPORT Swifts boss Mark Phillips says his young side are giving themselves too much to do in games.
Swifts haven’t tasted victory in six matches and slipped to back-to-back defeats with a 1-0 loss at Loughborough University last Saturday and a 2-1 loss at home to Highgate United in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
Phillips thinks it could be a different story for his team if they can get the first goal.
He said: “We are having to chase games too often and giving ourselves to much to do.
“Against both Highgate and Loughborough we have gone behind but then done really well in the second half but not quite got back into it.
“We are actually playing very well in parts but need to maintain that for 90 minutes.
“A big thing for us would be getting in front. That would be a big help to us, especially for such a young side.
“Those are the key things we need to work on moving forward.”
Swifts will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Coventry Sphinx to Walshes Meadow this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Joe Robinsons and Alex Perry, who both missed Tuesday’s cup clash, are both available for this weekend.
