TOP of the table Stourport ladies first XI continue their campaign in the Investec Western Conference League, this coming weekend, when they travel to Exe for a 1pm hit back.

This comes after 2-1 loss last weekend when they travelled to Buckingham although a goal for Lora Symonds keeps Stourport top of the league on goal difference.

The ladies third XI lost 3-1 away to Bromsgrove seconds in the Worcestershire first division last weekend.

Meanwhile in the Worcestershire second division the ladies fourth XI, drew 3-3 at home with Harborne fourths. A result that sees the Stourport ladies drop down to second in the table.

There is no match for the ladies fifth XI this coming weekend, as they take a break in their league programme. However, most of their players can be seen on Sunday November 20, when they entertain Kettering in the over 45's cup. The match begins at 12.30pm at 'The Kingsway,' pitches opposite Stourport High School.

In what was a hotly contested match, Stourport ladies second XI were 2-1 winners over visitors Leek first XI, in last weekend's Midland Division 1 match.

After an intense start, Stourport scored their first goal after a dummy short corner, which Amy Miller left for Jade Marshall-Walker to pick up and push into the corner of goal.

Frustration was building in the Leek team, and for the next twenty minutes, tempers frayed and both sides saw cards from the umpires, including two yellow and three greens.

Leek pressed forward but Amie Richards made some superb tackles and the host's attacking play was too much for Leek to handle.

This resulted in a reversed stick goal from Jodi Vincent, taking the home side further into the lead, only for Leek to pull the score back to 2-1, but this was not enough to stop Stourport from taking the three points.

Stourport ladies found themselves playing under floodlights last weekend, for a late afternoon Worcestershire League 3rd Division match, against their hosts Tenbury second XI.

Unfortunately their was to be no joy for the Wyre Forest side as they went down 3-0, to their hosts.

The matches, between these two sides have always been close affairs, but Tenbury came out attacking and put the Stourport defence under considerable pressure.

It was pressure that the visitors withstood determinedly throughout the first half as attack after Tenbury attack was dealt with but not entirely cleared.

Any break out by Stourport was quickly turned back by some slick passing by Tenbury. The home side eventually took the lead and pressure continued but still the Stourport defence stood firm, helped by a fine performance by Stourport's joint players of the match, Dee Goodwin in midfield and Sara Jennings at sweeper.

The second goal arrived after the Stourport defence rushed out at a short corner and the ball found an unguarded corner of the goal.

The second half again saw the home side piling on the pressure but, Stourport seemed more able to cope despite Tenbury coming close on occasions.

Then a respite for the visitors defence, as Stourport's attack gained the upper hand, putting the home defence to the test, the visitors best chance fell to Rosie Connolly, whose goalbound shot was stopped on the line.

Tenbury began to push forward again, and bagged a third goal, despite the pleas from the Stourport defence who claimed to have seen a Tenbury foot in the build up. The goal stood, but Stourport can feel proud that they prevented the score from being higher as the fifths drop to sixth in the table while Tenbury climb to third.

The men's first XI went down 7-2 to Nottingham University in to 'The Kingsway,' last weekend.

Stourport men's second XI suffered a 3-1 defeat to Loughborough Town in the Midlands League Premier.

The third XI made it a miserable weekend for Stourport men's section when they were beaten 5-2 by their hosts Warwick University in the Midland League 1.

Stourport's men's fourths top the Central League West Midlands Premiership, after beating visitors Olton & West Warwickshire 3-0. Once again David Knott was on the scoresheet grabbing a brace of goals, along with a single from Jon Yates.

The mens fifth XI suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of their hosts Stratford.
