OVERNIGHT rain made conditions treacherous for Wyre Forest CRC riders in the latest round of the West Midlands Cyclo Cross League promoted by Wolverhampton Wheelers CC with riders suffering falls and mechanical problems.

Despite experiencing several setbacks throughout her race, King Charles 1 School pupil Kinga Ingram maintained her push for an overall top three spot with a gutsy second place finish in the under 14 girl's race.

In the under 14 boy's race Louis Smith had a tougher experience with the mud clogging the mechanicals of his bike causing his chain to become derailed on several occasions and eventually forcing him to run with his bike for the last half lap, but he still finished in a creditable 27th place.

Senior rider Robert Grimes also suffered with the mud fouling his chain, but limited his losses to the front runners with a hard ride into 14th place while over-50 rider Mike Haddon could still manage a mud spattered smile at the end of his race finishing in 37th place.

The next round in the series will be promoted by Rugby Velo at Kirby Mallory on December 18 with riders hoping for drier conditions.
