AFC Bridgnorth 4 v Wyre Forest Phoenix 3

Last time these two teams met was the first game of the season in a League Cup clash which ended in 2-2, with Bridgnorth winning on penalties. This second meeting was just as close, and WFP were disappointed not to come away with a result after a great display of football.

The home side took advantage early on with two goals in the first 15 minutes, but WFP did not let this dampen their spirits as Chelsea Mudge got them back in the game. The score line could have been level when Lisa Preece was denied a penalty claim.

Bridgnorth extended their lead to 4-1 when injuries reduced WFP to 10 players however their determination paid off in the last 10 minutes as Nancy Sylvester got her first goal for the club and this was shortly followed by a lob from Kat Bayliss to make it 4-3.

The game was almost levelled as Chelsea Mudge shot on target, only to see the keeper produce a finger-tip save onto the upright and re-bound into her arms.

This Sunday sees them host Arley Kings Ladies at Mill Lane with KO at 2pm.

U16: Gornal Ladies 1 v 0 Wyre Forest Phoenix

The under 16 girls had only nine players for their match away at Gornal and despite a good start by Phoenix the scores were level at half time.

The second half saw Phoenix getting even closer but were denied by a static Gornal defence and off side flag. After 28 minutes Gornal scored to take the victory and make the most of their two player advantage.
