STOURPORT Swifts recovered from a dreadful start to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw at Midland Premier League title contenders Westfields.

Swifts fell behind in the first minute but recovered to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Jack Bailey and Joe Phillips.

Westfields fought back in the second half to lead 3-2 but substitute Matt Pinder saved the day for Swifts with an 88th minute equaliser.

Swifts manager Mark Phillips admitted: "We presented them with a free header at goal right from the kick-off and then found ourselves all at sea for the first 10 minutes.

"We went onto prove the better side by half time. But Westfields are very good at set-pieces and they levelled following an own goal from a free kick move.

"Westfields were then awarded another free kick just outside the area. We didn't set up the defensive wall properly and they just rolled the ball into the corner of the net to take the lead.

"But I was pleased with the way we went back at them and overall, I thought we possibly shaded it."

The result leaves Swifts hovering just above the drop zone in 19th place and Phillips believes there can be no slip-up when they entertain Loughborough University this Saturday at Walshes Meadow.

Swifts will be reinforced by the return of both Sam Beasley and Joe Robinson following suspensions.
