HUNDREDS of athletes of all ages battled it out in a Kidderminster & Stourport Athletics Club’s annual ‘Spring Warm Up’ competition.

More than 250 competitors from around the Midlands and beyond took part in a variety of track and field events on April 2.

With some participants as young as 10, the oldest competitor on the day was Tony Crocker who competed in the high jump and triple jump events.

Pete Mould, 64, of Bromsgrove and Redditch AC, also struck a blow for the older brigade when he won the veterans 300m with an impressive time of 44.1 seconds.

Out of the younger contingent, rising brother and sister hammer throwers started off proceedings by clearing over 50 metres.

Kidderminster and Stourport AC athlete Ellie Ravenscroft had one of the best performances of the day, to beat a quality 600m field in a time of 1.38.7.

While her club mate James Milburn won the high jump with a new personal best of 1.80m.

Anyone aged over nine interested in taking up athletics can meet Kidderminster and Stourport ASC on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6 until 7.30pm at Stourport Sports Club, off the Kingsway in Stourport.
