A KIDDERMINSTER triathlete is celebrating after winning gold in the sprint distance event at the European championships in Düsseldorf.
TRiKS coach Jacqui Phillips was victorious over more than 100 competitors including arch rival Maria Powell.
Jacqui had a strong start and led the swim leg before going out on the bike, never looked back and rode in to T2 still in the gold medal position but with Powell only four seconds behind.
In the 5k run Phillips extended the lead to over a minute and claimed first place to go with the duathlon gold medal she won in Spain two months ago.
Cora O'Mahoney all qualified for this her debut for Great Britain. Cora came a creditable 14th in her age group and is now looking to try and qualify for the world championships in the 60-65 age group.
