GOOD bowling and tight fielding won the day for Kidderminster Cricket Club’s under-11s in the County Pairs final against a strong Worcester CC side on Monday.

The team had reached the final after coming top in the Central Group, with just one defeat all season and beating Colwall in the semi-final.

Winning the toss, KCC batted first and against a good bowling attack, uncharacteristically struggled with the bat and were restricted to 275-3 giving a net score of 260 to defend. Jacob Townes top scored with 13.

The boys responded with their season best bowling and fielding performance, supported by some great wicketkeeping by Dan Newton, to win the game with Worcester, unable to get on top of some excellent bowling across the team, finishing on 269-9 (224 net score).

Skipper Tom Powell was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3-14 and Ben Jones 2-11 both off their 3 overs.
