TWO talented brothers took top awards at Kidderminster Cricket Club’s junior section presentation night.

George Hatfield, aged 17, won the Rob Wood Shield for clubman of the year and brother Matthew, aged 14, clinched the Harvey Wagstaff Memorial Cup for most outstanding feat having scored a record-breaking 1,280 runs.

The Reg Bridgewater Trophy for most enthusiastic player went to 12-year-old bowling dynamo Dylan Griffiths.

Worcestershire County bowler Pat Brown presented the special awards, along with trophies to best batsman, bowler, all-rounder and most improved in each age group from under-9s to under-16s and medals to all the juniors at the event on September 15.

Certificates for five-wicket hauls and centuries by juniors in senior games were also presented to Matt, Dylan, Ollie-Hart Bradford, Oli Davenport, Rhodri Morson, Finley Tibbetts and Sam Beadsworth.

Junior section chairman, Sarah Beadsworth, said: “There were lots of individual successes to celebrate as well as team achievements which included promotion for the under-12s to the Worcester league premier division, the under-11s being crowned pairs county champions and the under-9s winning their league.

“After a very busy season, players, coaches, managers and parents are taking a well-earned break now until winter training starts in January – that is, of course, apart from those going for county trials in October who are training hard under the guidance of head coach Craig Wood.”
