A MOTHER and son have been in action at the Kimura Shukokia European Karate Championships in Estonia.

The competition saw Karen Sinnett, aged 54, taking part in the over forties category for the first time.

While Karen did no collect any medals, her son, sensei Iain Sinnett, aged 19, won gold in the adult’s team kata, and bronze in the men’s individual category.

Sensei Iain has a new karate club at the Wyre Forest leisure centre on Fridays from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

The club welcomes new members from age five upwards and families, the first lesson is free.

There are also classes at the Mercure hotel in Bewdley, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and at the St Barnabas church hall on Fridays 7.30pm to 8.30pm under sensei Dave Powell.
