Town hope injury woes are over

JOINT-boss Craig Payton is hoping Bewdley Town have come through an injury-ravaged September.

The Ribbesford Meadow outfit has been hit hard by injuries to the likes of Craig Webb, Robbie Orme and Richard Costello.

But Payton is hoping as they head into Saturday’s West Midlands League Premier Division clash at Bromyard, they will have almost all their players available.

Orme is still set to be out for up to three weeks after damaging ankle ligaments in the FA Vase win over Leek CSOB.

“I think we’re getting everybody back now after a tough month,” said Payton.

“We’ve had a lot of injuries and a few of the lads have also been on holiday for a week, which means they’ve missed three matches.

“We’re still missing Robbie, who makes us tick in midfield but hopefully for Bromyard we will have a settled side for the first time in a while.”

Payton was also pleased with Bewdley’s performance despite going down 3-1 to leaders Black Country Rangers on Saturday.

The likes of under-21s player Aaron Stubbins, keeper Craig Moule, Zak Marriott and Costello all performed well.

Chris Hough had pulled a goal back after Town had went 2-0 down but a late strike finished them off.

“The team gave everything they’ve got and it was good performance,” Payton said. “Rangers have been beating teams by big scores but we pushed all the way and could have got something so I am proud of the lads.”

Town travel to Bromyard in the league on Saturday (3pm ko) before taking on Sporting Khalsa away on Tuesday night (7.45pm ko).

They then go to Rocester in the FA Vase on Saturday, October 13.
