Tourists are being urged to take their front row seat in luxury for one of the world’s greatest wildlife spectacles when over 1.5m wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 500,000 gazelle make their annual journey to Kenya’s Masai Mara.

Kicheche Camps in the Mara offer a perfect view of this natural phenomenon, including the famed river crossing where single zebras persuade herds to cross strong currents.

And as well as the nature on show Kicheche’s Laikipia camp guests can kayak and mountain bike around the surrounding areas during their stay.

The new activities offer a chance to take in the fantastic scenery and get active in the great outdoors.

These are offered in addition to enjoying game drives and wildlife walks, canoeing on the dam in front of the camp and visiting the Northern White Rhino enclosure and Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

And for the next month Kicheche Camps are offering great discounts to customers.

Guests visiting any of Kicheche’s camps until 20 December 2012 will receive four nights for the price of three. Rates start from £1,915 per person, including return flights from London Heathrow to Nairobi, all meals and drinks (excluding champagne), four nights’ accommodation, unlimited game drives, escorted bush walks with our knowledgeable local guides and all park fees, check out www.safari-consultants.co.uk for more details.

Kicheche’s newest addition, Kicheche Valley Camp, is in the newly created Mara Naboisho Conservancy and the camp borders the famed Masai Mara National Reserve.

Kicheche Valley comprises six luxury tents in a picturesque and unfenced valley. With strict regulations on vehicle numbers, the camp ensures a high quality experience and guests will enjoy a private experience exploring the savannah grass plains and Eneskaria River. From crocodiles to elephants, the conservancy is home to three lion prides and the largest population of giraffes in the Mara. The lounge tent gives guests the chance to relax and overlook the game-filled plains while enjoying the Kenyan sunset.

For those who like a little more adventure in their safari experience there is option of Fly Camping.

A spokesman for Kicheche said: “Take yourself back over 120 years and experience how the British Explorer, Frederick Selous, camped out under the stars at Kicheche’s new fly camp.

“All guests at Kicheche’s Mara camps can now embark on an excursion led by Charles Wandero, a silver KPSGA guide, or one of Kicheche knowledgeable senior guides. Enjoy some top-notch bush cuisine to a soundtrack of animals, from the whooping of hyenas and the keening of jackals, to the roar of lions and the mantra of cicadas.

“Guests will enjoy a gently 5km walk and explore savannah life in detail, spotting birds, insects and maybe even some of the larger residents of the area.”
