Spa experience ideal for partners or pals

WHEN was the last day you spent doing absolutely nothing?

If you’re a working mum like me, it was probably sometime before you gave birth! So, for my trip to The Spa at Thoresby Hall Hotel, set in 50 acres on the edge of Sherwood Forest, I armed myself with loads of glossy mags and prepared for the ultimate chill out.

Looking the part in white robes and slippers, me, my husband and our fellow spa-goers plodded between different warming and cooling rooms.

The warming ones are a sanarium, hamman steamroom infused with herbal essences, aromatherapy cave and rhassoul, an ancient mud-bathing experience (supplement applies).

You can then cool off in the ice cave and multi-sensory experience showers.

Other facilities include a relaxation lounge with comfy chairs and plenty of water and fruit, a hydro spa pool, heated loungers, outdoor terrace and water beds – which were incredibly popular.

Leisure club facilities – an 18 metre indoor pool, gym, bubble pool, sauna and steamroom – can also be used.

Around midday, we changed into dry gowns and headed off to the hotel’s Le Bistro for a light buffet lunch.

On offer were meat, fish and vegetable dishes and salads plus tempting cold desserts and fruit juices.

The af ternoon was treatment time.

Chris opted for an ESPA holistic back, face and scalp treatment while I chose a ESPA rehydrator facial and ESPA detoxing algae wrap.

The hours flew by as I was preened and pampered, though the algae took some shifting in the shower afterwards.

My skin felt super smooth afterwards though and I’ve got a sneaky feeling I won’t be waiting six years for another extra-special ‘me’ day.
