Carpenter cuts through field
8:00am Friday 18th January 2013 in Sport
DEAN Carpenter won the men’s double roll-up stableford competition at Cleobury Mortimer.
Played over Badgers Sett and Deer Park, 30 competitors braved the conditions to play.
The club’s green staff did all they could to ensure the course was as good as it could be even though the rain just has not stopped since the beginning of the new year. Amazingly, the winning score of 38 points, shot by Carpenter was produced on the worst day, a superb round of golf considering the conditions.
Tony Willets closely followed in second place after shooting 37 points on the second day. Simon Eades snatched third place after performing well on the back-nine to seal the position on count-back.
The ladies section also had a roll up this week, played over 18 holes.
Julie Currie and Sylvia Tudor Hughes won with 36 points. Currie also won the Christmas Turkey Trot in December.
Rosemary Dempsey and Mary Job were runners-up with 33 points, closely followed by Sue Griffiths and Marilyn Wood (32).
n Kidderminster Golf Cub results — Ladies 12-hole stableford: 1 Yvonne Foley 23 points; 2 Sue Mobberley 21; 3 Judy Taylor 20.
12-hole mixed yellow ball: 1 Alan Gregory, Hilda Gregory, Charles Tilling, Wendy Ray 48; 2 Ken Foley, Yvonne Foley, Merv Billingham, Dorothy Mckie 47.
Kidderminster men’s team beat Fulford Heath in the quarter final of the Droitwich Shield 2&1, they now go on to play Moseley GC in the semi-final.
Callum Hutchinson and James Bulmer won 2-1 and there were halves for Brian Longmore and Scott Davies and Matt Rock and Steve Beddoes.
