Town produce a Plan B to finally get a game
8:00am Friday 8th February 2013 in Sport
BEWDLEY Town have drawn up a contingency plan if Saturday’s home clash against Willenhall Town (3pm ko) is called off.
The Ribbesford Meadow outfit suffered more frustration as their run of abandoned games stretched out to eight when home clashes against Malvern on Saturday and Dudley Town were called off.
Town are fingers keeping their fingers cross their enforced break because of waterlogged and icy pitches will finally come to an end when they entertain the Black Country outfit this weekend.
However, they have prepared for the worst and have struck a deal to play at Areley Kings’ football ground on the Saturday.
But should that game go by the wayside, Town are hoping to arrange a friendly at the weekend.
Joint-manager Craig Payton said: “We’re training at Baxter College, playing five-a-side football but it’s not the same as competitive football.
“Hopefully our game against Willenhall will go ahead but if it doesn’t we’re hoping to organise a friendly.
“We’ve got to say a big thanks to Areley Kings for helping us out.
“We won’t know until Friday if we need to play a friendly or not but any side who fancy a game are welcome to give us a call.”
Town face a big cup game next Tuesday, as they face Alvechurch in the quarter-finals of the Worcestershire Senior Urn (7.45pm ko).
Any side interested in playing Bewdley in a friendly can call Craig Payton on 07973 533004.
