MARK Yates believes Harriers and Saturday's visitors Stevenage Borough still have time to push for the play-offs after admitting there is nobody to fear in the Conference.

Other than Stevenage, Altrincham and Graves-end, who Kidderminster play in their next three games, Yates's men have pitted their wits against everybody in the division.

And although Harriers and Mark Stimson's Boro have flattered to deceive at times this season, the Aggborough manager is convinced there is still time to reach the top five.

Yates admitted Stevenage's slow-start had slightly surprised him, but he suggested he and Stimson were victims of the instant-success demands of modern-day football.

"Mark Stimson has gone in there, reportedly with a fantastic set-up and he's been told to get his players together and get out of this division," said Yates, whose side are just one point behind Stevenage in mid-table.

"They struggled at the start of the season and he's got his own way of playing, but like anything it takes time.

"They, like ourselves, will be disappointed where they are, but they, like ourselves, will also have the belief that if they can go on a run of two, three or four unbeaten, winning games they can be straight up there."

Having watched the Broadhall Way men several times this season Yates knows for himself that they are a better side than their league position suggests.

But the Harriers boss insists that his own team can compete with everybody in what is developing into an open season in non-league football's premier division.

"We've had a couple of results where we haven't done ourselves justice but on the whole there's nothing to fear in this league," said Yates.

"Every game is competitive whether you're playing the top team or the bottom team .

"If you're not at it and not showing the same confidence, desire and workrate then you will get found out and you won't win games.

"Unfortunately we had a poor start but we're improving - the last couple of months show that.

"We just need to go on a run get right amongst them and really kick on."

Yates was today closing in on two more new additions before the transfer window slams shut until January at 5pm this evening.

With Plymouth's Reuben Reid joining Craig Nelthorpe and Paul Bignot in being recalled by his parent club earlier this week there are a couple of gaps in the Harriers squad.

Yates has set his sights on recruiting a pacy striker from a rival Conference club and a versatile defender from a Football League club.

Iyseden Christie has been passed fit to play on Saturday after recovering from a sore foot he sustained at Exeter, but Jake Sedgemore is still out with a swollen knee.
