ANDY Thomas recorded an impressive score of 49 points to finish first in Cleobury Mortimer GC’s double roll-up tournament at the weekend.

The members found themselves in for a golfers’ delight with the current course conditions.

After some prolonged dry spells the course has been transformed into the perfect venue for winter golf.

The unique double roll-ups gave the chance for members to play on either day with the top three scores of the weekend picking up prizes.

Simon Johnson just pipped Gordon Moraity on count-back to secure second place The day, however, belonged to Thomas who cruised to victory.

Cleobury Ladies raised £200 for Kemp Hospice while playinng their Waltz Stableford tournament.

Results, Waltz Stableford: 1 Annette Juckes, Heather Pringle, Sian Hawes 61 points; 2 Pat Darby, Sue Griffiths, Marilyn Wood, 59; 3 Lin Pinner, Gloria Bullock, and June Brydon, 59 (c-b).

George Baylis, Nick White and Graham Lloyd were first with 76 points, while the trio of Jim Duffy, Tony Davies and Graham Bashford were runners-up with 76.

Andy Baylis, Phil Baylis and Craig Richardson came third with 75 points, while Steve Kidd, John Holt and Noel Evans (74 points) finished fourth.

Ladies 12 hole am-am: 1 S Caswell, J Skura, J Yates, Y Foley 44 points.

Runners-up: J Abraham, P Clarke, J Allen, W Brine 42.

Ombersley Ladies member Jane Gummer won a nine-hole qualifying match with a score of 18 points, followed closeley by Jennie Kerridge in second (17) and Lynne Knight (17) in third.

The traditional Turkey Trot was won by Becky Swire (39), while Mary Prior was second with 37 points and in third was Sue Hele with 34 points.

At the presentation night, Hele rounded off a good year by winning the 2013 Order or Merit.

Andy Wright was named Ladies Champion of Champions, winning the 2013 winners competition.
