WYRE Forest Phoenix produced a hard-working display but experienced a 4-0 defeat at Coventry Development in the West Midlands Regional Women's League.

The Ladies team had to travel to a difficult fixture with just 10 players due to injuries and illness and although they gave 110 per cent it was not enough on the day to stop the experienced home side.

Player of the match and Captain of the team Kat Meredith was inspirational in rallying her team when their heads went down and Kirsty Roberts drew a fine save in the first half.

Keepers Vicky Hyde and Tracy Evans swapped the number one shirt at half-time to allow some fresh energy into the field.

Phoenix entertain unbeaten leaders top of the table Marston Green on Sunday.

In the Hereford and Worcester Girls and Women's County League, Phoenix were edged out 2-0.

Goals in either half shot down Wyre Forest.

The under-12s got the better of Droitwich Spa Ravens 2-1.

First to strike was Chloe Reading, who hammered the ball into the net after strong pressing had won the ball in midfield.

Phoenix went 2-0 after some great passing saw Natacha Trabulo spring the offside trap to run through and slot the ball in to the back of the net.

They then withstood a Ravens fight back to win the match.
