KIDDERMINSTER Carolians head coach Ian Bletcher believes his side have nothing to fear in their quest for promotion this season Midlands 2 West (South) after they demolished title contenders Nuneaton Old Eds 34-24.

Carolians cantered over for six tries – but had three more ruled out because the referee was unsighted.

Bletcher claimed: “Unfortunately, the referee didn’t have the luxury of a TV replay. But despite that, it was a terrific performance. The players have really turned things around this season and improved the level of commitment which wasn’t there earlier in the season.”

Bletcher singled out Rich Sollom and George Morgan for particular praise.

Sollum has switched from the wing to back row with huge effect while Bletcher believes Morgan has developed into one of the best fly- halves in the North Midlands region.

Bletcher added: “George is the eldest of eight brothers, two of which are playing for the Colts. Their dynasty at the club looks assured for many years to come!

“He was outstanding in the recent win over Stourbridge Lions, and it’s a testimony to full back and assistant coach Andy McLellan, who has worked really hard with George to improve his game”.

Bletcher pointed out: “We had 19 players missing at both First and Second XV level earlier in the season, but as people have come back, things have improved to the point where there is genuine competition for places.

“Things have picked up to the point where we’re in the promotion hunt now and having gone joint fourth with Leamington”.

KCs head for Old Coventrians this Saturday, and Bletcher added: “We’re on a high at the moment and putting a few wins together. I take nothing for granted and expect a hard game at Coventrians, but the players must realise they have nothing to fear at this level now.”
