Stourport Ladies ready for return to league action

HOCKEY: Stourport Ladies first team resume National Conference North on Saturday at Doncaster.

The Wyre Forest outfit are fifth in the table and hoping to get the second half of the season off to a strong start.

Meanwhile, the fourths drew 1-1 at Worcester in the County League Division Two, with Kate Bailey bagging the leveller.

The fifths were too strong for Kings Heath seconds in Division Three and ran out 5-2 winners, thanks to goals from Katie Walker (2), Rosie Connolly, Alice Caldwell and Karen McIntyre.

Stourport’s sixths had Hazel Claris on target in Saturday’s 4-1 home loss to Bromsgrove thirds.

Table-topping Kidderminster Ladies continue to go from strength to strength in Division Three with a 6-1 win over Droitwich.

Meanwhile, Stourport Men’s Senior team were edged out 1-0 at home by local rivals Worcester, with Tom Schubert scoring.

Stourport go to second-placed Barton on Saturday.

The club’s under-16 boys defeated Worcester 11-1 in the cup.

There were five goals from player of the match Dan Petrie, a hat trick from James Taylor, a brace from Simon Claris, and a single strike from Dan Dew.
