MAZ Leno was the star performer for the district’s Tae Kwon-Do Schools at the South Midlands Championships.

Hundreds of competitors braved the flooded roads to get to the tournament on Sunday, and an impressive 23 came from the district and returned with a respectable 13 medals.

Leno, who has only been training since June, won three medals in three different divisions.

She earned bronzes in the ladies patterns division and heavyweight sparring categories.

In her final entry, Leno teamed up with current Yellow Belt World Champion, British Champion and club training partner Kate Mason to take the gold in the team sparring event, winning the final round by 15-4.

Mason added to her team gold with a bronze medal in her individual sparring.

Amy Ranasinghe, who joined the girls team event under the team name, took a gold medal, winning the final by 19-3.

There were more medals again for brother and sister George and Jessica Chance who collected silver and bronze medals from their teams division respectively.

Paris Orme and Ella Kirk both won bronze medals in their individual sparring divisions. The pair then teamed up with Rosie Ashmore and took team gold in their division.

Dylan Kirk, Jack Day, Blaiz Orme, Luke Ranasinghe, Hannah McCreedy, Ashlee Whale, Simon Whale, Niamh Elcock, Luke Ranasinghe, Paul Tonks, Joseph Tonks, Neil Meredith, Jo Jackson, Olivia Williams, Finley Fitton and Shaun Mayall all just missed out on medals.
