COACH Kali Takher wants Stourport Men to turn their recent good performances into results as they strive for a strong end to the season in the Midlands Division One.

Takher is sure that the his rebuilt team are is now producing the goods performances after seeing his charges and in recent weeks have pushed top three sides all the way in recent weeks.

Saturday's 3-2 loss to runaway leaders Barton, where Nathan Claris and David Knott scored, was hot on the heels of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Worcester a week before.

He said: "We were unlucky not to get something from the Worcester match," said Takher.

"Considering they beat us 7-0 only two months before it shows how far we've come."

Stourport are comfortably mid-table but Takher believes this team, which is a mix of promising up and coming young players such as Dan Petrie and old heads like David Knott, can push for a top-four finish.

They are currently only five points behind fourth plae Old Hales.

The coach added: "Stourport had been on a downward spiral for several seasons, but I believe we have steadied the ship.

"The players are enjoying their hockey and we're getting good numbers in training." They are all working hard and that work will pay off."

Stourport entertain Hampton on Saturday.
