BEWDLEY Town are set to be celebrating no matter if Saturday’s match at Bromyard is on or off.

The club are keeping their fingers crossed that the clash (3pm KO) will go ahead after the last seven days were washed out.

But with Russell Godfrey and former Town striker Richard Burgess, who is now plying his trade at Bromyard, celebrating the birth of their baby sons the club are planning to enjoying themselves.

Joint manager Craig Payton said: “No matter what happens, there’s going to be a celebration we’re going to mark the good news of Russ and Richard.”

Goalkeeper Darren Steadman has also returned to Town after a spell at Bromyard.

The former Kidderminster Harriers’ shot-stopper will act as a back-up after they club said farewell to Simon Dye last year.

Steadman, who was first choice last season, still looks after the Under-16s side at Bewdley and is a popular figure around the club.

Payton said: “Darren went to Bromyard because he knew we were well-stocked for keepers but now we’re down to just one, he’s back at the club.

“He’s never really been away and he loves the club.”

Town saw last weekend’s Wednesfield game called off. But Town are 17th in the table and haven’t played a game since January 14 when they beat Lye in the League Cup.
