A month is a long time in football.

From a carnival atmosphere in the FA Cup at Sunderland to such a hostile atmosphere at Aggborough on Saturday takes some believing.

Having supported the club for 50 plus years, I was shocked at some of the abuse and personal attacks thrown at both manager and chairman.

The team performance wasn’t the best with four new players in the side, but with injuries and suspensions, changes were inevitable. Credit to the players for keep going on with everything being shouted around them.

The shadow of Steve Burr, who was a fans’ favourite, no doubt doesn’t help because of the mystery of his departure. But the importance of keeping the bulk of the squad together and moving forward is paramount.

Whoever took over from such a popular manager was going to find it difficult, just ask David Moyes, but let’s get behind the team.

The ‘mob’ got a result on Saturday. Time will tell if it was the right one.
