Fixture pile-up could well suit Bewdley

AN end-of-season fixture pile-up could play into the hands of Bewdley Town, according to manager Craig Payton.
Bewdley are used to having to deal with a congested fixture list at this time of year due to their pitch’s close proximity to the river.
However, due to the country’s adverse weather conditions, it’s now a problem that many other West Midlands Premier teams are going to have to face as well.
Payton said: “We are used to having winter breaks at Bewdley but some other teams might not be as prepared.
“It means we might be able to build on the good run we are currently on.”
Bewdley won their fourth game in a row when beating Bromyard Town 2-1 away last Saturday.
A first-half brace from Dan Jones saw them in control by the break.
An injury enforced a change at half-time and handed the initiative back to Bromsyard.
Sam Watkiss’ red for handling in the box allowed the home side to halve Bewdley’s lead from the penalty spot. But a determined effort saw Town hold on for all three points.
They now face second in the table Shawbury United at home this Saturday.
