Siwicki makes KVCC return

KIDDERMINSTER Victoria are set to welcome back Stourport skipper Andy Siwicki as part of a winter recruitment drive.

The batsman is one of four additions to the Chester Road’s first team squad as they prepare for the Birmingham and District League Premier this summer.

He originally left KVCC for Stourport where he helped them win promotion to Worcestershire League Division Two.

Last season, he scored 905 runs and averaged 50 each match.

KVCC have also brought back spin-bowling all-rounder Matt Brace from Worcester and Dominies.

Staffordshire bowler/batsman Mike Hill and wicketkeeper Mark Fisher have also joined from Wombourne.

Team manager Andy Kimberlin said: “We wanted to add some depth to our squad.

“We have a lot of up and coming young players who will get a chance to shine this season, but it’s also important to have a bit more strength in depth.

“Andy has scored a lot of runs for Stourport, and while it’s at a lower level we know what he’s capable of doing.”

Jon Wright remains as skipper, but veteran spinner Mark Mansell has been named second team captain, although he will be available for the firsts if needed.

Wicketkeeper Ben Cox looks set to become Worcestershire’s first choice so has not been allocated to KVCC.

Neil Pinner has remained at the club and so has Worcestershire batsman Matt Pardoe, who is deemed a homegrown player.

So far, Kidderminster have not picked up anyone from the county and are keeping their options open.

Last season, KVCC had been top of the table but faded badly in the second half of the season as Shrewsbury took the title.

Kimberlin said: “I think any side that finishes above Shrewsbury will win the league.

“If we can go into the final Bank Holiday weekend in the top four or close by we can see what happens.”
