THE new girls’ football team from Franche Primary School, in Kidderminster, claimed the county crown in a thrilling knockout competition.

The Year Four girls had won the district finals earlier in the season to be selected as the representative for Wyre Forest at the countywide Worcestershire School Games.

Despite stiff competition, they triumphed to win gold.

Coach and teacher Matt Caddick said: “They did brilliantly but most of all they really enjoyed themselves and showed great sportsmanship. Their tremendous performance was matched by their attitude, demonstrating honesty, passion, respect, determination, teamwork and self-belief. They were a credit to the school and to the district.”
