CLEOBURY Mortimer golfer Emily Price has once again showed her supreme talent by winning the Shropshire Schools girls’ golf tournament on her home course.

The youngster made a mockery of the conditions to shoot a gross 73 which is one over par for the 18 holes.

She matched the England international boys who were also competing at Cleobury Mortimer and recorded scores of 71.

Dad Kelvin Price said: “Emily has been practicing hard all winter and to win this, her first tournament of the year really sets her up for a busy schedule.

“We will be travelling all over the country this year and hope to be in the mix competing at the top of the leader board in many of them.”

Meanwhile, Mortimer staged their ever popular double roll-up tournament at the weekend.

Ian Downes and Andy Johnson shot 37 points to finish fourth and fifth, while Guy Taylor further cemented his reputation with 38 points to finish third.

The day however belonged to two of Cleobury’s bright young prospects.

Jack Severn shot 39 points to finish second and Alex Barnes shot 40 points to win.

Both have been working hard on their golf over the winter and are now starting to see the rewards.

Craig Richardson won Division One of the monthly medal at Kidderminster Golf Club.

Cleobury Ladies played Worfield Ladies at Worfield and were beaten 5-1.
