STOURPORT returned from their trip to Bredon with just six bonus points as they were beaten in the last over in Worcestershire League Division Three.

Batting first, the Wyre Forest side lost early wickets and with several batsmen getting starts but not going on to get a big score, they never got on top of the Bredon attack.

Bevan Neill (32) and Christian Parry (40) were the pick of the early batsmen.

A fine last wicket partnership between Gavin Bryan (34 not out) and William Downes (28 not out) enabled Stourport to post a competitive 215-9.

In reply, Bredon lost wickets at regular intervals to set up a dramatic finish, and requiring six runs off the last over the hosts passed the total with three balls to spare.

Gavin Bryan was he pick of the Stourport attack with 3-38, while Matt Delo continued his fine form with the ball, conceding just 12 runs from his 10 overs.

On Saturday, Stourport entertain local rivals Cleobury Mortimer (1pm start).

Meanwhile, the seconds defeated Droitwich by two wickets to get their Division One campaign off to a winning start.

Batting first, Droitwich were bowled out in the 44th over for 134, skipper Mark Guest the chief destroyer with 4-20.

Teenagers Ethan Lockwood (38), 17, and Sam Foley (23), 16, helped Stourport to their meagre target before veteran James Cook saw them past the finishing line with 18 not out.

The thirds (174 all out) lost to Barnt Green by three runs ,while the fourths (181-9) saw off their county rivals by two runs.
