COOKLEY saw off Malvern by three wickets in the Worcestershire League Division Two.

In the new win or lose format, Malvern appeared destined to accumulate a very large total until Danny Soley (4-47) got the villagers out of jail with burst of wickets, as they failed to use up their last six overs and ended on 231.

In reply, good batting from Al Roden (58) and Ben Quinlan (50) guided Cookley to 232-7 ensured victory with nine balls to spare.

Cookley are joint top of the league after the first two games. They go to Stourbridge Social/Oldwinford on Saturday (1pm start).

The seconds lost by eight wickets to Pedmore in Division One 2nd XI.

Cookley reached 170 thanks to Chris Parkes (58) and veteran Ian Robertsv (46) but Pedmore smashed the runs off in just 26 overs.
