WOLVERLEY Martial Arts kickboxing pair Megan Smith and Callum Hawkins produced impressive displays in Cardiff.

The duo were part of the club’s elite Team Eclipse, and Hawkins was too strong for the home fighter to earn a unanimous decision.

Smith fought for the British title but despite a tremendous effort she finished runner-up after five rounds.

The club made the trip to Worcester to take part in the WUMA British Kumite open.The highlight of the day was Daniel Hawkins having to fight in a heavier than normal weight category and still taking the gold.

There were wins also for Callum, Daniel and Drew Hawkins, as well as Ellis Gould and Chloe Elrick.

Sam Smith bagged second places in the points fighting and kicking categories, while Gould was runner-up in the points.

Third places went to Callum Hawkins and Connor Preece.Eclipse were also in action at a full contact show at JB’s Nightclub in Dudley.

Emma Jayne Morris fought first for us in a three-round match to secure an inter-club title.

Gould was too strong for his opponent and sealed the BCCA Interclub title.

Daniel Hawkins had to wait around until 10.45pm for his 5x2-minute round title fight but was edged out by a taller opponent.
