Phoenix flew ever upwards this week to finish the season on a true high.
Firstly the Club received news from the Worcestershire FA that they were winners of one of this year's McDonalds community awards. In only their second season, It was announced that Wyre Forest Phoenix had been awarded  the FA Charter Standard Development Club 2014. As winners of this for the county we are now entered into the regional finals and keep our fingers cross for this. This is a fantastic achievement for the club, its Players and Volunteers
Secondly this weekend saw our Under 12 team play their last game of the season which they won to finish 4th in the league.

Evesham  0 v 1 Wyre Forest Phoenix
For the Under 12's it was a relief that we finally got to play it after Evesham had cancelled this fixture twice . It was our last game of the season and perhaps the most important. Lose and we finish fifth, win or draw and we take fourth place.
For the neutral this was a superb game to watch with end to end football from the off. Phoenix had a few early chances but could only manage some tame efforts. Evesham began to take control of the game and Bethany Savage produced a couple of top class saves to keep the game 0-0 at half time.
After the break Phoenix flew out of the traps and seemed more determined to take the points, however they couldn't put their chances away. Then suddenly a quick long throw from Jessica Jenkins, flicked through to Izzy Smith who put the ball in the net from the tightest of angles, despite having a knee injury. This angered Evesham who then went on full attack for the last 15 minutes. The Phoenix defence did their job superbly, clearing the ball and putting in strong tackles where needed. There were a few nervy moments during the last few minutes but Phoenix hung on for their second successive clean sheet to take all 3 points and finish a very successful season in 4th place.

A big Thank you to all players, parents and volunteers who have contributed to a fantastic 2013/14 season
